Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) was developed in 1970s to treat Borderline Personality Disorder. Since then, research has shown that it is extremely effective in treating a wide range of mental health and substance related issues. DBT focuses on increasing awareness by noticing thoughts, feelings, and body sensations and then strengthening attention back to the present moment.
