Brainspotting Therapy
Notice what emerges. Process at your pace.
Move forward with support.
Brainspotting is a trauma-informed therapy technique that uses focused visual attention and body awareness to help clients explore emotional and physical responses.
What Is Brainspotting?
A focused, body-aware approach to emotional processing.
Brainspotting uses a specific point in a client’s visual field as a focus while the client notices emotions, memories, and physical sensations connected to a concern.
The therapist provides a steady, supportive presence while allowing the client to process at their own pace.
Sessions may involve more internal attention and less verbal explanation than traditional talk therapy.

Who It May Support
An adjunctive option for emotionally intense or difficult-to-verbalize experiences.
01
Trauma-Related Distress
Memories, triggers, body sensations, or emotional responses connected to difficult experiences.
02
Anxiety & Emotional Overwhelm
Persistent stress, strong emotional reactions, tension, or difficulty feeling settled.
03
Feeling Stuck
Concerns that remain difficult to process through words alone or have not shifted with previous approaches.
How A Session May Work
Focused attention within a calm, collaborative setting.
The exact process varies by client and clinician, but Brainspotting commonly includes the following elements.
Choose A Focus
Identify an emotion, memory, concern, or body sensation to explore.
Locate A Visual Point
The therapist helps identify an eye position connected to a noticeable internal response.
Observe What Emerges
Maintain gentle focus while noticing thoughts, sensations, emotions, and shifts.
Process With Support
The clinician remains present, grounded, and responsive throughout the experience.

Brainspotting At Innerspace
One tool within a broader,
personalized plan of care.
Brainspotting may be used by an appropriately trained clinician when it fits a client’s goals, stability, readiness, and overall treatment plan.
It may be combined with individual counseling, group therapy, family sessions, CBT, DBT, ACT, ERP, psychiatric care, medication management, or other clinically appropriate services.
The client remains in control of the pace. A clinician can pause, adjust, or stop the process whenever needed.
* Brainspotting is an emerging therapy with a smaller research base than established treatments such as CBT, DBT, ERP, and trauma-focused therapies. It should be presented as an optional adjunct rather than a guaranteed or universally appropriate treatment.

From Our Clinical Team
Trauma is often stored beyond words. Brainspotting helps access the brain's natural ability to process difficult experiences, creating space for healing that feels both safe and empowering.
