Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Change unhelpful patterns. Build healthier ways forward.

CBT is an evidence-based approach that helps people understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors — and practice more effective responses.

HOW WE TREAT

What Is CBT?

A practical approach to understanding thoughts, feelings, and actions.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is based on the idea that the way we interpret situations can affect how we feel and what we do next.

CBT helps clients recognize unhelpful thinking patterns, test whether those thoughts are accurate or useful, and practice behaviors that support healthier coping and greater confidence.

Who CBT May Help

Support for emotional, behavioral, and everyday challenges.

01

Anxiety & Worry

Persistent worry, fear, avoidance, overthinking, reassurance-seeking, or difficulty tolerating uncertainty.

02

Depression & Low Motivation

Negative self-talk, hopelessness, withdrawal, low energy, or reduced interest in daily activities.

03

Behavioral Patterns

Habits, reactions, avoidance, or coping strategies that provide short-term relief but create long-term difficulty.

How CBT Works

Notice the pattern, test the thought, and in practice a new response.

CBT is structured, collaborative, and focused on practical change. Clients work with a clinician to understand patterns and apply new skills between sessions.

Identify The Situation

Notice the trigger, event, or interaction connected to distress.

Recognize The Thought

Identify automatic interpretations, assumptions, or beliefs.

Examine The Pattern

Look at evidence, alternative perspectives, and the effect of the thought.

Practice A New Response

Choose a more balanced thought or behavior and test it in daily life.

What Clients Practice

Skills that support clearer thinking and healthier behavior.

CBT At Innerspace

Evidence-based treatment within IOP and PHP care.

CBT may be integrated into Innerspace’s programs for children, adolescents, and adults based on each client’s symptoms, goals, and level of care.

Depending on clinical need, CBT may be combined with DBT, ACT, ERP, individual counseling, group therapy, family sessions, psychiatric care, and medication management.

CBT does not ask clients to simply “think positively.” It helps them develop more accurate, flexible, and useful ways of responding.
