FAMILY SESSIONS
Stronger communication. Greater understanding.
More consistent support.
Family sessions help clients and loved ones work together around communication, expectations, coping, and progress throughout treatment.
Why Family Involvement Matters
Progress is easier to sustain when the home environment supports it.
Mental health challenges often affect more than one person. Symptoms can influence communication, routines, expectations, trust, conflict, and the way family members respond to one another.
Family sessions provide a structured space to better understand what is happening, reduce unhelpful cycles, and build more consistent support outside the therapy setting.

Who Family Sessions May Help
Support for families navigating stress, change, and mental health concerns.
01
Communication Challenges
Repeated misunderstandings, conflict, withdrawal, difficulty expressing needs, or conversations that quickly escalate.
02
Changing Family Roles
Adjustments related to treatment, school, work, caregiving, transitions, or increased support needs.
03
Supporting Progress At Home
Learning how to reinforce coping skills, boundaries, routines, and treatment goals outside the program.
What Family Sessions Can Focus On
Practical conversations guided by a trained clinician.
Family sessions are tailored to the client’s age, needs, goals, and treatment plan.
Improving Communication

Planning Support

Stronger Problem-Solving
Work through disagreements and practical concerns in a more organized way.

Continued Support
Prepare for discharge, future stressors, and the next stage of care together.
Family Sessions At Innerspace
One part of a coordinated
IOP or PHP treatment plan.
Family sessions are integrated with the client’s broader treatment when clinically appropriate and may support children, adolescents, or adults.
They may be coordinated with individual therapy, group therapy, psychiatric care, medication management, school collaboration, and other evidence-based services.
The goal is not to assign blame. The goal is to help families understand patterns, improve communication, and support progress more effectively.

From Our Clinical Team
